Okay my brilliant bloggers. With book week just around the corner, I thought it timely to ask you to review one of your favourite books or one you have read recently. Remember to hook the reader with your opening sentence. You should include:

• The book’s title and author

• A brief summary of the plot that doesn’t give away too much. Discuss characters, setting, genre.
  

• Your personal response to the book. Why did you enjoy it? What part? Give examples.

I think we have an amazing school!  What are the things about our school that YOU love? Is it your classroom, the teachers, our beautiful gardens, a special part of the playground, one of the many programs on offer, or perhaps the INCREDIBLE library and librarian!

I want you to tell the world about it. As well as a great description I’d also like you to add some images of our school.

Even though our school is great, as with all things, there is always something that could be added or improved to make it even greater. What is it? Write a paragraph detailing your ideas.

Take your time, give this some serious thought and above all, have fun!

Your next task is to create a post about something that you are really passionate about. It may be something that you included in your ‘About me’ page. Do you love to sing, dance, play an instrument, play a sport, paint or draw… ? Tell the world about it! Be sure to include images to make your post visually appealing. Your task this week is to create an avatar to use on your blog when leaving comments. Your avatar is an online representation of you. It might have your hair colour, types of clothes you like to wear, a guitar or pet that you have. You may like to choose an animal or crazy, fantastic creature for your avatar.

Create a page introducing yourself. You could write a short bio, a poem or create a list of things people may not know about you. You could include information about your family, your pets, your passions and interests, favourite books and authors, music and artists, food, movies, subjects at school…

Below are instructions for creating your page.

1. Login to your blog, go to the dashboard>pages>add new
2. Change the title to About Me or something similar.
3. If you only have one row of icons above the box, click on the last icon called the kitchen sink or toggle. This opens a second row which allows you to change font colours.
4. In the box, write a bit about yourself remembering to be internet safe.
5. When you have finished click the big button on the right side of your screen –send for review.
6. Once you have saved your about me page, go back and delete the sample page.
7. If your theme doesn’t show pages in the header area, then you will need to go to dashboard> appearance> widgets and drag across the Pages one to your sidebar.

This week I want you to become familiar with the dashboard. A great place to begin is by customizing your blog. Find a theme that suits your personality. Have fun!
