Gemma

A post from Gemma who was new to blogging this year. I hope you get to continue the blogging  journey Gemma.

About my school!

Hi this is Gemma

I blog every Thursday I make new updates every blogging day.

Mrs Riding helps the blogging group blog. She is the #1 librarian that I know.

I nearly do everything the school puts in the newsletter like harmony day, which is when we wear orange, I play netball and hockey, odd feet day where you wear weird shoes or socks, and discos where you PARTY!

A couple of weeks ago we got some new furniture for our theatre area in the library. We aren’t allowed to go there at reccess or lunch but we can on library time or blogging times.

My library day is Thursday. We borrow books that we want to read and we bring them back the next week. We have a junior fiction, non fiction, and fiction areas. Our non fiction is for finding facts, information, research, and just for things you’re interested in. Fiction is for looking for your favourite authors, series, illustrators and genres.

Term 1

31/01/17 In term 1 we found out what teacher we were going to have for the year. In year 5/6 the teachers were Mr Davies, Mr Carter, Mrs Penberthy and Mrs Brathwaite. I have Mrs Brathwaite. The first things we did were literacy, maths, art, sport and singing. We had our famous Easter hat parade, odd feet day, harmony day and our cross country. In week 9 we found out that Mrs. Brathwaite was sadly leaving the school and we were going to be having a teacher named Mrs Cameron for the rest of the year.

Term 2

26 /04/17 On the first day of Term 2 we created a table name. Our table name is Fairytail. This name is a movie with anime in it. The people I know from the movie are Erza Scarlet, Juvia, Jet and Bob. I don’t know what the movie is about but what I know who some of the people in it are and that it has most of all anime. (That is like a style of Japanese film and animation for television typically aimed at adults and children if you didn’t know.) Mrs Cameron is a better teacher than I thought. Mrs Brathwaite left some beanbags that we could sit on if we were good and she also left half of the dress ups.

27 / 04 / 17 This is our second day of school and I am in fact typing this at blogging today. It is really cold outside. It is 12 degrees Celsius. This morning I was waiting in the car for about 3 minutes for my mum to get my school jacket and it felt like I was ice. No ice block for me today. It’s way, way, way too COLD ! :-/ It might snow in my area next week. The storm we had a couple of days ago was the coldest storm ever. Lightning, thunder, rain and very heavy wind. The wind nearly blew my dogs and their bowls away. It was horrid!

3/5/17 Today it’s my friends birthday. She is turning 11 and I will be getting her a box of chocolates. (eventually!) I play hand ball with her everyday.

4/5/17 It is 9:20am and I have just started my school day. I don’t really know what I am going to do today. I hope we are going to have some fun and some sport. Everyday is a good day @ tps .

Pollution and Litter

Don’t you  hate it when a person says “Oh, this is great for the environment” but then throws some type of plastic in the bush. It’s annoying isn’t it? Yup really annoying!

People are doing this WAY to much. They’re killing animals and destroying the environment. By killing animals I mean choking, getting stuck in plastic bags and more. You may mean no harm at first but doing it really does affect the way we’re living. The litter that people throw away instead of putting in a bin can go out to sea or fly out to the forest affecting many animals lives. More than 500 animals a year have been killed to illness, choking, being tangled up and  bags getting stuck on their heads. This all happens because of pollution and litter. Pollution is something in the air that can be harmful or poisonous, litter is garbage that people throw out into nature causing many deaths of animals. Some people are careless with litter and just throw it on the ground, you’ll probably see this when a person chucks something out their car window, or when someone just scrunched up a receipt and misses the garbage bin and even when a child leaves a lolly wrapper on the ground. We need to stop littering before it gets out of hand. Soon half  the world will be covered and this just shows how much people litter. In many places in the world, it’s illegal to litter. If you do you can be fined 500 dollars and/or get sent to jail.

There are many different types of pollution and here are some of them and what they do:

Air pollution- Harmful gases and tiny particles (like carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide) when released into the air cause pollution. The smoke released from burning fuel, from factories and not to forget the motor cars are the major sources of air pollution.

Water pollution- All that dirty water from our house drains through the pipes into rivers and oceans dirtying the water. Can you imagine all those chemicals from factories draining into the river? And that is the water that you drink. Think about all the diseases that you can get from drinking such water.

Land pollution- All that plastic and dirt that you throw on the ground dirties the land and when you don’t maintain the hygiene, then disease prevails.

Noise pollution- You want to listen to head banging rock music and your parents orbit into the space. But have you thought about your dear little sensitive ears? How much can they take? Not much and the effect is seen within a few years when you can’t hear what people say. You end up becoming deaf. Not to mention other problems like high blood pressure and other diseases that you develop.

As you can see pollution isn’t good at all, it doesn’t only hurt animals but us too. Everybody has probably done it at least once, and some times it can be on accident or on purpose. We can put an end to litter and pollution and SAVE THE DAY!!!!

StarStruck!

The lights were all shifting to different places, the people all dancing on the wide floor. Wait! I almost forgot. I’m not watching the show, I’m in the show!

StarStruck is a giant show where different schools in the area dance and put a show on. Loads of people watch it and when you’re performing you get a bit nervous but it’s really fun. This year I tried out for StarStruck and got in! When I got in I thought that it would be as easy as making eggs on toast but no it wasn’t, it was very hard. The people in StarStruck at my school go to the basket ball stadium and then when we practice movement rehearsals and dress rehearsals we go to the entertainment centre. It’s really crowded when we practice but we managed not to get lost.

In the entertainment centre there’s a hall where all the performer’s stay when they’re not performing. My school got a very small spot to sit but we handled it. When we waited we ate, relaxed, did small activities and watched the other people perform. We were able to watch them because the hall had giant screens that were connected to cameras that showed them dancing.

My school was lucky enough to get in and get at least two dances. We had a dance called ‘superheroes’ and one called ‘another opin another show.’  In the superheroes dance we got stop and go signs! Before the very last performance we all went to Hungry Jacks and got a meal.

We all had loads of fun and here are a few pictures of my school at StarStruck!

Art

So if you didn’t know I love art. Art is like doing something creative, amazing, extraordinary and different.

Almost every day I draw something and sometimes when I draw in class people are always saying “wow, that’s amazing” but I want to go out of the world art so why not a galaxy, the universe. I love drawing anime AKA the cartoon name in japan. I normally think of something and just draw it off the top of my head. Here are just a few of the drawings I do (BTW some of these are my sisters :):

Oh no! The charmander is backwards, well, whoops.

The top 3 and the one with the group of people in the second row are my stisters. Now the deer, charmander, Harley Quinn, school girl and the girl in the tech background are all mine.

I have loads more than this. But that’s all I’m showing you for now.

(you can click on a picture to see it closer)  🙂

Guitar Performance

On Sunday, I went to the hall of arts in Lochinvar with my sister. We were both there because we were going to preform, me on guitar and my sister was going to sing.

When I got there I was so nervous and one of the things that was embarrassing was that I was the only girl in the group of people waiting to do guitar. I felt pretty confident just cause I was getting taught by Nick in the music academy (the place I learn and plus he is a really good teacher) but the fact I was doing a solo made me really nervous. I was playing ‘Stitches’ on the guitar.

I walked up the stairs to sing and play the guitar but I was shaking. After my performance a really loud clap came on, I even think I could hear a couple of Whoos and 1 or 2 whistles, also my sister could feel my shaking. Soon it was my sisters turn, she also did a solo and was going to sing ‘Crybaby’. She did really well. I had to leave early because of my baby brother.

I had a wonderful time and can’t wait until next year.

Chloe Mc

Here is a small sample of the quality posts produced by Chloe.

Hairstyles!

My fingers twist, turn and tumble through piles of hair. I plait, braid and many more. Doing hair is one of my favourite things to do. I love doing hair especially when it is soft and slides through your rough fingers. It is the best feeling in the world as well as when someone is happy with what you have done! A few months ago my school dance group went to hunter dance festival and I braided Bella’s hair while we were there. She loved it and that made me so joyful that I danced twice as good on stage! Another example would be when my sister finally lets me do her hair for school. all that arguing over nothing because she loved it!

As you can probably see I love doing hair.

Cyber Bullying A Big No No!

Do you ever feel like someone has said things online that you don’t feel comfortable about?

Well listen to this…

Cyber bullying is a common form of bullying. It is created by people constantly picking and making fun of other people online. It happens more than once and makes the person feel sad, angry, uncomfortable, annoyed and many more. This is an issue that happens all around the world and must be stopped.

Cyber Bullying is bullying online so it happens on lots of social medias. For example: Email ,Facebook, Twitter, messages and many more. If you ever see some one who is being bullied you must report it straight away, otherwise you are called a bystander.

So just remember, think before you act!

The Miracle

Me:

BANG! SMASH! The cold, wet ice belted my face and crumbled through my fingers. How I loved to watch the pink and yellow sunrise reflect off the water. My back rested against the cold gravel rocks and I gently closed my eyelids to drift off to sleep. The peaceful waves soothed against my dry skin as I slowly strolled along the cool beach.

Blair:

The waves washed up closer and closer onto the cold gravely rocks making them slipperier and slipperier. Whoosh! Cold wind smashing my face with a slight taste of salt. Waves getting bigger and bigger, scarier and scarier.

Hannah:

The moon rises. The hours tic by. All I can see is about three inches in front of me. HOWL!!! I heard a wolf near by. I take two steps and there it was, the wolf. I quickly turn and run until I side step into the water. I slowly sink to the bottom of the ocean. I try as hard as I can to reach the surface. I don’t think it’s going to work.

Me:

I crawl my way out of the water and suddenly I hear…

Madi:

“HELP! HELP!” I suddenly awake as I hear a strange noise. My moment of peace is over. “HELP!” I hear once again. Something wasn’t right. I had that feeling where I knew something bad was happening. Some one was in danger. And it was up to me to save them…

I have combined everyones part of the story and added a part of my own. Thank you for commenting.

The X Factor!!!

The bright lights were shining in my squinted eyes. I was up high in the last row, but I had an amazing view. My mum got free tickets to The X Factor! When we got there I realized my friends from dancing got free tickets too! It was so amazing, singers many people couldn’t beat. There were many though, who were not the best, but they gave it a go, and that is all that matters.

I had always dreamed of coming to a live recording and watching something like The Voice, Australia’s got talent or the X factor… and it happened! Of course I was so excited when my mum told me, and it was just like I imagined.

So if you have a dream I will highly recommend following it!

Alison

Below are some of my favourite posts from Alison’s blog. Enjoy!

My family Poem

Oh no! What a mess!
Mum will never get some rest!
Olivia my sister
Who loves to play twister
Has eaten all the food!
Mum will be in a very bad mood!
And Joseph my brother
Who is like no other,
Is throwing stuff around.
I wish he would settle down.
And William my other brother
Who helps his mother
Has sat down with a book
To take a quick look.
Mum comes in with a smile on her face
And says “What an amazing place.”
“But please clean up before dad gets back,
And get him out a little snack.”

Stop Bullying!

Stop right here if you’re a bully!

This post is for you. No one likes a bully!

Bullying hurts! Bullying is not done gracefully!

Sometimes it hurts you too!

But most of the time it makes the person you’re bullying blue!

Maybe you’re jealous, maybe you’re upset.

But do not do something you will regret!

Don’t let your feelings get in the way!

If you’re having a really good day!

Bullying is not a joke!

It is like the person you’re bullying hearts just broke!

Why do you bully, just why?

Come on kiss bullying goodbye!

A sad farewell!

To quote Chloe Mc.

“I’m crying right now, yelling right now, SCREAMING right now. Actually I’m not, but I am so sad …,”

…to be farewelling my amazing group of Stage 3 bloggers. I know they will continue to create some awesome posts on their own class blogs and I would encourage everyone to check out their work. (Links to the class blogs will be added to the side bar soon.) Thank you stage 3. I will miss you.

I have selected a favourite post, or two, or three from each student’s blog to showcase their talent and creativity. I will share these over the next few weeks in separate posts, in alphabetical order of course (it’s the librarian in me).
